Spatially resolved hard X-ray polarization in solar flares

Posted on December 21, 2011 by Eduard Kontar

Solar flare X-ray polarization may provide us with a method of determining photon anisotropy – an essential tool for constraining models of electron transport and acceleration.

Spatially resolved polarization across the extent of a single X-ray source has been simulated. A RHESSI nugget (Nugget 165) outlining the main ideas of the paper can be found here.
