Copyright issues

Just because it is very easy to copy material published on the web, does not mean that the notion of copyright is obsolete. Here are a few pointers (in no particular order, and not pruned recently) to resources which discuss the problem of copyright in this new medium:

• The European Commision has set up a Legal Advisory Board for the Information Market, which is aimed at `increasing the awareness of these legal challenges and to submit ideas and recommendations' on the topic to the EC.
• An essay on Electronic Copyright.
• The Cyberlaw service supports a mailing list focusing on legal issues concerning computer technology.
• The Oppedahl & Larson Patent Law Web Server.
• The `Copyright Website' has a collection of resources and advice.
• The US Library of Congress has some resources on US copyright law.
• The University of Michigan Academic outreach page includes a section on legal issues in education.
• Legal Issues of WWW and Electronic Publishing by Andrew Charlesworth is a discussion of ... well, guess ... in a UK context.
• The Cyber Law Centre (previously known as NetLawUK) discusses legal issues in the UK and elsewhere, though there's not a lot specifically on copyright.
• The journal Current Cites produced an annotated bibliography of current documents which raise copyright and intellectual property questions.
