Journals, mailing lists and other publications

• The Open University's ICDL maintains a list of journals.
• DEOS (Distance Education Online Symposium) is a trio of mailing lists supported by the American Center for the Study of Distance Education (ACSDE). The lists are deosnews and deos-l, available from listserv@psuvm.psu.edu, and deos-r available from listserv@cmuvm.csv.cmich.edu (send a one-line message `subscribe listname your-firstname your-surname' to the appropriate address). Deosnews is an occasional newsletter, deos-lis a general discussion forum, and deos-r is for the discussion of, specifically, distance-education research. There is a gopher archive of previous issues of Deosnews, and DLRN also maintains a searchable hypermail archive of DEOS-L.
• The listserv WWWDEV is concerned with developing WWW courseware. Its home pages have a number of resources, including a course list. The mailing list also has an archive.
• There are two (at least) relevant lists at Mailbase: distancelearn-research and flexible-learning.
• The Interpersonal Computing and Technology Journal (IPCT) is a mail-based peer-reviewed journal `focussing on computer-mediated communication, and the pedagogical issues surrounding the use of computers and technology in educational settings'.
• A collection of Publications on Teaching with Groupware at Texas A&M University, including one on Teaching Via Networked Computers.
• A list of Distance education journals.
• There are two usenet groups alt.education.distance and misc.education.adult which cover this field, and which have been known to be useful.

Other publications

I have a short (but growing) bibliography of Distance Education publications of various types.

Also, Dundee have produced a short guide on Preparing to study by distance learning, which I haven't seen, but which sounds interesting.
