I love reading, though I do it way too scarcely. That is partly because when a book catches me, I can't put it away and end up reading through the nights. So here is a list of books that I like and recommend.
Latest recommendation
Ed Viesturs: No Shortcuts to the Top Autobiography of the first American to complete all 8000ers. This books stands apart from similar books in that the author doesn't just show off his achievements, but expresses an honest admiration of other peoples skill's.
All-time favourites
Trudi Canavan: The black magician Trilogy Found this one when looking around in the bookstore and got completely caught by it. Fantasy, but in a very 'real' world and interesting characters. Read it!
Nevil Shute: On the Beach Very nice read. It scared the hell out of me. Although it's over half a century old, I think it never loses topicality
J.R.R. Tolkien: The Lord of the Rings don't have to say much about this one. Either your love it or....
J.K. Rowling: Harry Potter Yes, I admit it. I read them and I liked them, period.
Marion Zimmer-Bradley: The Mists of Avalon My favourite representation of the legend of King Arthur
The Colors of Space One of her first books. Nice adventure story
Friedrich Durrenmatt: Die Physiker Must-read for scientists. Entertaining, but a bit scary
Erich-Maria Remarque: Im Westen nichts Neues About the only book we had to read at high school that I finished way before we were supposed to. A thought-provoking, sad anti-war novel
