Observing wave motions in filamentary strands of coronal material, both via time series of images and also Doppler data, how does one infer which of the MHD wave modes might dominate the motions? Do these motions affect the stability of the filament channel? It can get very complicated very fast even with the limited arsenal of modes allowed by MHD.
