The large-scale disruption of the corona by a CME involves global waves and wave-like things. This paper pointed out the magnetic restructuring involved in a CME as a stationary wave. Something launches waves either of the CME-driven variety, or of the Uchida-type blast wave possibly responsible for metric type II bursts, and this something must be identifiable with the basic unstable development of the flare/CME process. Historically, this viewpoint helped a lot in showing the richness of the EUV imaging of large-scale disruptions.
