The figure above shows the velocity field around a few supergranular cells. The figure was made from the velocity field derived from a four hour, 256x256 pixels section of MDI data. The white dots are passive tracers that are advected by the flow field. The divergent cells and supergranular lanes are clearly visible.
The next page shows the evolution of a much larger area of supergranulation over a 36h period.
