As the software is more than 10GB, it is essential to download and install it before the workshop.
Software preparation:
(1) IDL and SolarSoft: (if you have IDL/SSW installed skip this step and go to item 2).
Please make sure to install the IDL at in your laptops. We offer you (thanks to Exelis VIS , UK) a fully functional version with licence for the duration of the school.
To install IDL you need to download the IDL installation package

Please note that there is one technical problem so that initially the licence will not work, so that this is addressed on Wednesday.
(2) Moreover, please make sure to install the SolarSoftWave (SSW). SSW can be downloaded as a single zip file (~4GB) for MS Windows from here:

then unzip it to disk C (unzipped SSW ~10 GB), so that you have folder structure 'C:\ssw\gen\....'
Alternatively, you can do SSW installation from here (any platform):

Using this option, make sure that you have the following instruments selected:

/these instruments (packages) are already selected if you download ssw.zip/
To remind you, SolarSoft is an IDL sort-of plug-in with routine libraries that facilitate the seamless use of ground-based and space data.
(3) Additionally, you can install ActivePerl 5. (free softwave) to install to facilitate updates of solar soft using perl script:

This license will give you full IDL (and SolarSoft, as a result) functionality for the purposes of the School's exercises. This also includes IDL Mpeg support for IDL v8.4
4) Specialist software for some lectures. Some lectures want you to install (download) additional software specifically for their tutorials
