RHESSI Results - the need for a rethink?
John C. Brown
Traditional ideas of flare hard x-ray and gamma-ray sources, and of elctron and ion energy budgets, will be re-examined in the light of results from RHESSI. In particular I will discuss - How well we can now infer thin and thick target flare electron spectra
- How the widely used collisional thick target scenario stands up to the results of 1)
- How well we now know footpoint areas and footpoint motion and implications for beam models
- A RHESSI based study of the Neupert effect and implications for electron energy budgets
