Particle acceleration in a time-dependent kinematic model of collapsing traps

Collapsing magnetic traps have been suggested (e.g. Somov Kosugi 1998) as a possible scenario for particle acceleration in solar flares. We present a general framework for calculating time-dependent kinematic models of collapsing traps in 2+1/2 D and show a specific example of a collapsing trap. First results of particle orbit calculations in the magnetic and electric fields of the example trap will be shown. We will also discuss possible future improvements of the model.
