Radio burst terminology and multi-wavelength data analysis

The classical type IV burst spectral diagram after J.P. Wild (1962, J. Phys.Soc.Japan 17,Suppl. A II, 249) is compared with recent knowledge about the significance of different radio spectral patterns for studying solar flares and coronal mass ejections. This information can be helpful for multi-wavelength data analysis by the non-radio expert.
