A simple cartoon, rivaling in simplicity the offering seen in the Melrose-White cartoon, one of several from the otherwise obscure journal PASA in this Archive. It represents early thinking on electrodynamic theories of flare physics, which to the Archivist's point of view could be extremely helpful in understanding some of the problems left over from MHD (such as energy source, energy partition, momentum and energy transport, particle acceleration etc.). Here there is imagined to be a resistive circuit element at loop top (RC) that matches impedance with a subphotospheric source.
