This is another in the tradition of the Heyvaerts, Priest and Rust cartoon, with the wrinkle here being the application not to emerging flux (ie, something on a small scale, as in an X-ray jet) but instead to a quiet-Sun filament eruption. Here, to my mind, the act of reconnection is a little bit harder to understand because of the lower stresses in the corona (as opposed to the lower solar atmosphere, where they are of course still small).
