The cartoon

A fully detailed cartoon describing 3D magnetic reconnection in a spine-and-fan geometry as an explanation of radio type III bursts. The basic skeleton is in black (spine) and gray (fan), emanating from a null point. This of course, being a singularity, can have no particle content and so would be unrelated to any observable; however the QSL (quasi-separatrix layer) field would have finite volume and might be a different story. That is presumably the business of the HFT, for which Titov must take responsibility. In any case this geometry is frequently observed. The cartoon does not really explain particle escape into the heliosphere.
