Here we have a "patchy reconnection" cartoon - really simple -
illustrating the Supra-Arcade Downflow (SAS) phenomenon.
How can the magnetic field do this, adding complicated separatrices with such
abandon?
We should not forget that SAD events followed a HAPPY time (Humdrum Arcade
Processes Prior to Yohkoh).
This important observation quickly led to further development.
