Cartoon illustrating the ability of acoustic waves to refocus from the solar antipodes. In principle, and in practice but not yet for flares, this technique allows images of the far side of the Sun to be made. The authors don't claim that this is a way to do anything particularly useful in flare physics, but the Archivist likes the concept and notes that something like this must be happening, whether it can be seen for solar flares or not. Certainly for anticipation of major far-side active regions, this is a winner. Here "pupil" refers to the domain over which the signal integration happens.
