The cartoon

A very colorful reflection of its stark black-and-white Priest & Forbes predecessor, though reverting to the basic 2D part of it. Here the authors have added a great deal of detail and annotation, including curious features such as the blue/green circular inclusions, one in the lower footpoint. These are meant to show the presence of ions, essential for some of the physics. This cartoon represents an elaboration of the CSHKP framwork to include effects of non-thermal particles and their radio manifestations. The paper itself contains some novel and interesting speculations about the role of turbulence in the energetics of solar flares, along with a hint about the physical reason for the structuring of the bright arcade.
