Cartoon from Ionson's final review of his body of work on the
electrodynamics of coronal heating.
This follows the line inductive energy storage in the corona, as first
cartoonified in this Archive's article on the
Alfvén-Carlqvist model.
As our understanding of the physics of the transition zone (upper
photosphere, chromosphere, transition region) and its
complex
dynamics improves, it may be possible to elucidate more of the elecrodynamics
issues.
Note the legend "DC differential and convective EMF"
This hints at a parallel non-neutralized coronal current, which would seem to
make excellent sense if one wished to store energy inductively.
