An innovative interpretation of MHD standing waves in large-scale (trans-equatorial) loops as a mechanism for inducing "sympathetic flaring." Can a standing kink mode actually transfer any energy systematically from one footpoint to another? Even if not, the point is well made that the global corona must have some elastic response to perturbations anywhere within it.

      A good example here of the rich color graphics modern technology brings to the table.
