Not obvious at first sight, this cartoon explains how entropy behaves in the solar wind when magnetic fields and energetic particles interact. Very important, obviously; the authors think that intermittency in the turbulent character of the solar-wind field somehow links to SEPs. The Archive has 40 entries mentioning SEPs, at this date, but zero touching on their thermodynamics thus far. See Cane for a favorite one, or Anderson-Dougherty for an earlt hint about intermittency.
