The cartoon

An example of a cartoon with an explicit simple purpose: in this case to illustrate how field connectivity can allow particles to get into the heliosphere. As noted elsewhere in this Archive, the standard model (CSHKP) won't do, because it has no open fields. Here a multipolar field geometry can do the job nicely, at least in a set of measure near zero.. So this is a good cartoon, except that the artwork is a bit dodgy (although pleasingly colored). Some of the field lines appear to touch or even cross. And why are there two green ones?

See also the Martinell cartoon, for example.
