The division is funded by the following sources. Additional support has been given from the Institute of Physics.
- University of Glasgow Senate New Initialive £10,000.
- Department of Physics and Astronomy IT Support £18,000.
- EPSRC grant "Intelligent parallel algorithms in applied plasma science" (1997-1999) £88,678.
- EPSRC grant "The Ferrofluid Plasma: the plasma properties of magneto-rheological fluids" (1998-2000) £110,771.

The Plasma division is currently collaborating with the following groups.
- UKAEA's research facility into fusion; specifically with the COMPASS-D team.
- Heriot-Watt University - pending funding.
- Nuclear Physics Group of the Physics Department, University of Glasgow
The Plasma division has the following resources:
- Transtech Paramid parallel computer based on Transputer T805 and Intel i860 processors.
- Sun SPARC workstation running SunOS 5.4
- Four IBM-Compatible PC running Linux and Microsoft Windows 95
- Access to the University of Glasgow's Starlink node.
