The surface processing of materials has become an important application of plasma technology in industry. Etching and deposition using partially ionised gases plays a crucial role in many manufacturing processes. Our interests currently lie in the way in which semiconductors are etched to produce the nnanometre structures that lie behind modern integrated curcuits.
