About me.

Well I could have put a sensible picture up but where would be the fun
in that?

So about me, I was born in Glasgow on the 14th of October 1981 in the
Queen Mothers Hospital which, strangely, I can see from my office window.
I grew up in the lovely city of Stirling where I went to Bannockburn
High School. Five highers, three CSYS (Physics, Mathematics, Chemistry)
and a Dux medal later I left there to go to St Andrews University in 1999.

In St Andrews we did indeed party like it was 1999 and 2000, 2001,
2002 and 2003 for that matter. I did a lot of ballroom dancing and
drinking and in 2003 I left with the ability to quickstep like a fiend,
a love of good wine, and a (2:1) Msci(hons) degree in Astrophysics.
During my honours years in St Andrews I carried out a research project on
potential field extrapolation and modelling of the solar x-ray corona.
Thinking that this was quite nifty I decided to go on and do a PhD in Solar
Physics which I started in Glasgow in September 2003.
You can find out more about that under My Research.
