Sootica
Sootica was named after the cat in Gobolino the witches cat.
She used to talk a lot when she was younger and loves hunting. Now she's
a bit older she's become a bit loopy.
Nicky
We got Nicky from a nearby farm and at first she was practically
feral. She used to hide behind the video played with her head stuck right
in the corner thinking that we couldn't see her. Now she's definitely an
indoor cat and will be your friend forever if you give her a meaty stick.
Jesse
When we got Jesse we thought she was a boy. Fortunately we
gave her an androgynous name though the spelling stuck.
When Jesse was old enough she went on 'holiday' to a friends house. On returning
she gave birth to 3 kittens. 2 boys and 1 girl. We kept Dewey and Angel.
The third kitten Mack was returned to Jesse's 'holiday home'.
Dewey
Dewey is one of the most petted, show off cats. He loves attention,
getting brushed and playing with his feather toy.
Angel
Angel loves getting her tummy rubbed, watching birds through
the window and her snoozzee (pictured). She is rarely seen out of it.
Mack
Technically he's not one of our cats, but since he was born
under my bed I thought I'd include him here. I've heard that he loves hunting.
Here in Glasgow...
Past pets:
Buffy
I got Buffy and her sister Willow from one of my friends Katrona.
It was the first time I'd kept rats and I fell in love with the immediately.
I had Buffy for about two years.
Willow
Willow once caused having when she escaped while I was on
holiday in Blackpool. My flatmate tried to catch her for hours with no success.
Thankfully I was back the next day and managed to get her back in her cage
fairly quickly because she knew me. Like Buffy, Willow was very special.
She missed Buffy very much after she was gone but found company
in my new rat Tara for a few months.
Mew and Pichu
I got Mew and Pichu on impulse from a shop in Aberdeen after
seeing someone else's mini hamsters. I can't quite remember the name of the
breed, but basically they were very small, even full grown, and incredibly
fast. They loved their wheel, especially at 3 in the morning when I was trying
to sleep.
Dave Gorman
My flatmate and myself bought a couple of diamond sharks
and called them both Dave Gorman. See this web site.
Present day pets:
Tara
I bought Tara to keep Willow company after Buffy died. On
bringing her back from the pet shop I realized that she looked rather fat.
I had a sneaking suspicion that she was already pregnant. This was confirmed
later that evening when she gave birth to seven little pink squirmy things.
Of the babies I kept two of the females and found homes for the rest. On
meeting Tara my mum fell in love with her because she's so friendly. My mum
then took two of the male rats, Charlie and Jamie.
Anya
Anya is one of Tara's babies. She's very friendly, but has
taken to the unpleasant habit of peeing on my hand, thus marking her territory.
Dawn
Also one of Tara's babies, Dawn caused havoc when she was younger by finding her way inside an armchair. She
was so scared that it took us two days to get her out. She's still quite
wary about being handled but loves to come and sniff you.
Spike and Angel
Spike (left) and Angel (right) were bought on impulse some
time after Mew and Pichu died. I'd always wanted gerbils and I already had
a cage. Angel's friendly but fast. One day I put him on my bed and he climbed
down the back of my bed and tried to make a run for his cage. Like his namesake, Spike has very destructive tendencies. He has
almost completely chewed away the ramp and platform in their new habitrail
system. Spike and Angel love their home that has many tunnels, a maze, self
contained wheel extension and more.
Giles and Xander
Spike and Angel's habitrail system grew so big that I realized
I had room for another two gerbils, so I got Giles(left) and Xander (right).
Unfortunately, although they got on well for a few months, Giles started
to attack Spike and especially badly Angel. I had to separate Giles and Xander
into another cage and I called Giles Ripper for a while. Thankfully they
seem happy with each other. Giles loves chewing on the bars of the cage and
Xander has a habit of stamping his feet so that it sounds like tap dancing.
Alex
Snails aren't exactly everyone's idea of the perfect pet,
but I've always liked them and kept a few when I was younger. On hearing that
my friend had some i decided to get two. Unfortunately one of them died during
the winter. Alex is thriving though and I'm hoping to get him a friend fairly
soon.
