Dear RHESSI workshop participant,

having read your proposal for the RHESSI/NESSI workshop, we are pleased to
confirm that you are invited to attend the meeting in Glasgow, 4-6 June
2003. This second announcement is to keep you informed about developments
in working group organisation, and to provide you with some logistic
information.

Working Groups:
Based on the input received, we have decided to reduce the number of
groups from 4 to 3. These are now:

1. FROM RAW DATA TO PHOTON DISTRIBUTIONS  (led by David Smith)
2. FROM ELECTRONS TO RADIATION SOURCE STRUCTURE  (led by Chris Johns-Krull)
3. FROM RADIATION SOURCE DISTRIBUTIONS TO PARTICLE PROPAGATION AND
ACCELERATION PHYSICS  (led by Gordon Holman)

more information about group membership will shortly be found at
the workshop homepage

http://www.astro.gla.ac.uk/users/eduard/rhessi/workshop

You will be approached by the team leader to create a more detailed
list of problems/topics to discuss within the group. Once the programs of
the Teams are ready we will put it on the web to allow others see/attend
the activities in other groups.

Programme:
A draft programme is on the web at
http://www.astro.gla.ac.uk/users/eduard/rhessi/workshop/program1.html

Hotels:
A list of hotels in the University area with the prices
per night is provided at
http://www.astro.gla.ac.uk/users/eduard/rhessi/workshop/hotels.html
The prices are given with the university discount where applieble.

These are primarily small, family-run guest houses and bed+breakfasts,
where you can be sure of a hearty breakfast and a friendly welcome. The
businesses are all frequently used by visitors to the University, and most
have a special rate available if you mention that you are attending a
meeting at the University of Glasgow. Please, note that Hilton and
Sandyford Hotels do not offer the discount for the university.

Meeting registration fee and conference dinner:
We will charge a small registration fee (20 GBP per person) to cover the
cost of coffee and refreshments, plus incidental expenses (such as
photocopying and other meeting support). This will be payable in cash
upon arrival.

We propose to hold a dinner on Thursday June 5th for all participants plus
guests. The location has not been decided yet, but given Glasgow's varied
choice of Indian and Bangladeshi cuisine, is likely to be in one of the
local Indian restaurants. Cost will be on the order of 25GBP per head,
including drinks. Please indicate below whether you would like to attend.

Facilities:
Each working group will be provided with OHP and data-projection
facilities. In addition, networking will be provided in WG rooms, though
probably not for all visiting laptops simultaneously. Email facilities
will of course be continuously available in the building.

In addition, we are now mirroring the full RHESSI data archive locally.
(see ftp://ftp.astro.gla.ac.uk/pub/hessi)
If you would like to move data to a local site prior to your arrival, please
contact the LOC.

May 31st Eclipse:
A number of participants have expressed an interest in viewing the May
31st annular eclipse. It is not possible for the LOC to organise a trip
for this purpose, but we will be happy to point you to relevant
information on accommodation, car hire, transport etc.

The eclipse is best visible from the remote north-west of the country, as
well as from the Outer Hebrides, Orkney and Shetland Islands. Getting to
good viewing locations will likely require that you have your own
transport and - since it occurs early in the morning - you may also wish
to book local overnight accommodation.  Although the distance from Glasgow
to the North West Highlands is not great, the roads between here and there
are not highways, and a minimum travel time of 3 hours should be allowed
to the closest location on the path of annularity.

For those who prefer just to stay in a Glasgow pub until the wee small hours, the
eclipse will be visible as a partial eclipse from Glasgow, starting at sunrise.

Best wishes

The RHESSI/NESSI LOC
