  • My thesis, "Coupling of the Solar Wind, Magnetosphere and Ionosphere by MHD Waves", was submitted on 3 September 2010 and successfully defended on 30 September 2010.

Teaching:

  • 09/2012-12/2012 Lecturing for Exploring the Cosmos One - Solar System Part One. Overview and formation of solar system, plus look at the terrestrial planets, for undergraduates pursuing degrees other than physics or astronomy. 9 lectures for a class of ~230.

  • 06/2012-08/2012 Supervision of summer student: P Wakeford "Modelling of Coronal Loop Oscillations."

  • 01/2012-03/2012 Lecturing for Circumstellar Matter II. Honours level astronomy covering stellar atmospheres and winds. 6 lectures + revision lecture and class tutorial. Class ~20.

  • 09/2011-03/2012 Supervision of masters project: D Stackhouse "MHD waves in solar active regions."

  • 09/2011 Developed and ran half-day course for Ph.D. students, Tutorial Introduction to Physics Simulations at ASSSP2011.

  • 01/2011-03/2011 Supervision of computational honours labs for Astro345HM at the University of Glasgow. Projects were written in MATLAB and included multi-body solar system simulators and a study of Daisyworld.

  • 09/2007-12/2009 Tutoring for MT2001 at the University of St Andrews, a required pre-honours mathematics module, normally taught to 2nd year undergraduates.

  • 09/2007 Certificate in "Introduction to Tutoring & Assessment".
