Brief description
Use an astronomy-grade cooled CCD chip to image faint stars and
reduce the data quantitatively using STARLINK software. The CCD
camera system available is the Santa Barbara Research Group ST4,
controlled by a PC. It is not trivial to attach the CCD camera in
the place of the eyepiece of the Meade telescope and expect to obtain
instant success, so one alternative method is to use the telescope
as a means of tracking and piggy-back a camera system with a shorter
focal length. We run a competition for the faintest object detected
with this equipment. You must be prepared to do evening observing
at Acre Road.
